First time here?
Find out how we want to help you as a developer, and plant trees here
It's a question and answer site for developer resources. Kind of like Stack Overflow, but there doesn't need to be a definitive answer. And it's more about resources, not coding problems.
Pretty much anything as long as it's to do with building or deploying software. We're pretty liberal (that may be a divisive word, hah!) about what we allow, for example asking about courses for freelancing is fine because a lot of developers are freelancers. Tenuous maybe, but there you have it.
Examples of legitimate questions:

We want the site to do some good, and hopefully have an impact so we will donate a large proportion of our income to planting trees where the world most needs them.
While the site is establishing itself, it will be 40% of revenue, after we have figured out cashflow and expenses (if we ever reach that point), it will be 80% of profit.
Because it seems to us there's a reasonable chance of us ruining the fragile balance of our climate before we figure out how to reign in our carbon emissions.
Oh yeah, because trees are the natural way to absorb carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, and we're destroying forests at an alarming rate. Also trees help support the communities, turning arid land into habitable, livable land.
Maybe, maybe not, but I'd rather try than not.

We use affiliate links for resource links where we can, this means that if you purchase something through an affiliate link, we get a small cut. Not all resources will have affiliate links of course, so we just try to find them when we can but if not we use a normal link.
Absolutely not! The success of this site lies in the legitimacy of the answers. You have to be able to trust the answers to want to come back to the site. We want the site to be a success so that we can plant as many trees as possible, so not influincing the answers in any way is very important to us!
First of all that's not a question. ;-) Secondly, please don't! Please see the previous answer, you won't be helping us, you'll be hurting us.
That's better! Well, you can start by asking questions, have a look around the site to see what sort of things are valid questions (or see the beginning of this FAQ). You can also answer questions - suggest resources where you think they're needed! Vote up or down resources if you feel it's appropriate. Lastly, if you feel a doesn't have enough of a description for a particular question, add a comment to say what's missing, we'll add it if it's relevant.
