Beaver Builder

WordPress Page Builder Plugin

Updated on: 13th Oct 2021
With Beaver Builder, you can build and customize mobile-responsive and SEO-friendly pages for your WordPress site without using any code. It’s a popular page builder — the plugin’s website claims that over 1,000,000 websites use it, and the free version has over 200,000 active installations on WordPress.org. Both beginner designers and professional developers can benefit from its intuitive interface. Overall, Beaver Builder focuses on ease-of-use and reliability rather than providing you with hundreds of options.

What sets Beaver Builder apart

    Free plan limitations

Beaver Builder allows you to create your web pages by adding three types of elements. Rows are the largest section. They can incorporate multiple columns, and these columns contain the fully customizable modules that make up your page’s content.

The lite version provides six types of modules

    1. HTML
    2. Photo
    3. Text Editor
    4. Audio
    5. Video
    6. Sidebar

It also lets you create color, photo, or video row backgrounds and use widgets and shortcodes. Your pages will be mobile responsive and can support Posts and Custom Post Types.

Because of its lack of modules, this free version can only construct relatively limited websites. For example, there is no button module, and therefore visitors can’t interact with your page. Beaver Builder Lite can help you familiarize yourself with the interface and see if it suits you, but you likely won’t be able to use it to craft a production site.

    Elementor

    Elementor

    https://elementor.com/

Similar to Beaver Builder, this plugin utilizes a drag-and-drop editor that allows you to see everything your site’s visitors will see. Both page builders feature similar interfaces with three elements, but Elementor has more options.

Elementor’s free version also offers many more functions than Beaver Builder Lite — it contains over 40 widgets (modules) and more than 30 templates. The paid versions also feature a theme editor, like Beaver Themer. However, they include this feature in their core package instead of making it a paid add-on.

As a whole, Elementor provides many more options, templates, and widgets, giving you more options for customization but possibly making it a slightly less beginner-friendly choice.

    WPBakery Page Builder

    WPBakery Page Builder

    https://wpbakery.com/

WPBakery is a very popular WordPress page builder plugin claiming over 4,000,000 users.

It offers both a front-end and back-end editor and supports hundreds of add-ons you can use to expand the builder’s functionality. It also provides more than 60 layouts and over 50 content blocks.

This plugin has only one license that costs $45 per site, so it is an affordable option for those who only wish to build pages for a few websites. However, Beaver Builder’s unlimited site licenses are more cost-efficient if you are designing many sites.

WPBakery’s visual editor may not be as user-friendly as Beaver Builder’s drag-and-drop interface. Still, this plugin offers a solid option for people who prefer to work in the back-end, and it also comes at a very reasonable price, considering all of its features.

    Divi Theme

Elegant Themes developed Divi, a WordPress theme with an integrated page builder. Although the builder comes bundled with the Divi Theme, it is actually possible to use it with any theme you like.

This page builder plugin features nine more modules than Beaver Builder, several more customization options, and over 1,000 pre-made layouts.

An Elegant Themes membership only costs $89 a year and includes access to all of their products. However, it might take you longer to locate specific tools or even add new modules when using Divi. You should also note that this page builder doesn’t leave behind clean code should you deactivate it.

    Features

Now that we have described the features of Beaver Builder Lite, we will look at what the pro versions and the Beaver Themer add-on have to offer.

    Paid Versions

Beaver Builder’s paid versions offer three additional basic modules:

    1. Button
    2. Separator
    3. Heading

You also get access to over 20 advanced modules sorted into five groups:

    1. Media
    2. Actions
    3. Layout
    4. Info
    5. Posts

The pro plans come with over 50 pre-made templates for both landing and content pages, as well as the option to save your own templates, rows, columns, and modules. It also features pre-built rows and undo/redo revisions to boost your page-building efficiency. You can change settings to Global to affect all pages on one site or import/export templates from or to other websites. Beaver Builder also leaves clean code behind if you ever choose to deactivate it.

    Beaver Themer

Beaver Themer is a Beaver Builder add-on that allows you to create and customize your own WordPress theme. Doing so will allow you to design layouts for the parts of a WordPress site you usually can’t edit (headers, footers, 404 pages, search pages, etc.). You can also control how posts are displayed on your blog page or in your archive.

    Pricing

Beaver Builder’s models cost yearly payments, with a 40% reduction in price after the first year. The prices are as follows:

    • Lite- Free
    • Standard- $99 for the first year
    • Pro- $199 for the first year
    • Agency- $399 for the first year

Each plan comes with all the features listed in the above section and allows you to use this page builder on an unlimited number of sites. However, there are some differences between the models.

The Pro version comes with the Beaver Builder Theme and multisite capability, while the Standard plan does not. On top of these features, the Agency plan offers white labeling.

The Beaver Themer add-on is available for a one-time payment of $147.

    Conclusion

Beaver Builder is a straightforward and easy-to-use WordPress page builder plugin. It offers a balanced amount of features, giving you control over your designs without overwhelming you with options. This plugin is relatively pricey, but it is widely regarded to be easy to use and well-built. If you are interested in Beaver Builder, you can either download the lite version or check out the live demo to see if this plugin fits your needs.

Beaver Builder Review by Design Bombs

A decent review by Colin Newcomer of DesignBombs - they go over how to use the builder in a fair bit of detail, talk a bit about the themer, addon ecosystem (which is vibrant), and pricing. Their conclusion actually talks about why you might want to use Beaver Builder over some of the other plugins (stability), or in fact why you might want to choose one of the other builder.

    Beaver Builder Review by isitwp

    https://www.isitwp.com/wordpress-plugins/beaver-builder/

A pretty poor review Beaver Builder by isitwp, it reads like little more than a sales page to me. We have zero critical assessment of Beaver Builder, the "review" consists of a brief overview of page builders in general, a description of how to use the basics, a description of the pricing structure followed by a recommendation to buy. There is nothing to recommend about this review.

Beaver Builder vs Elementor: Only One Is Good For You (2020)

    https://www.collectiveray.com/beaver-builder-vs-elementor

A decent comparison of Beaver Builder with Elementor by David Attard of the ever reliable Collective Ray. The general consensus is that they offer much of the same functionality, but Elementor is possibly better for single, or a low number of sites, whereas Beaver Builder might be a better choice for agencies or developers due to their agency license offering white labeling and some slightly less restrictive license terms.
