While not as well known as a lot of the other CMSes, TYPO3 has actually been around for a very long time. Initially release in 1998, TYPO3 powers some 500,000 websites.
TYPO3 classes itself as an Enterprise Open-source CMS, this essentially means that it's been built with business sites in mind, and at the forefront - it is multisite and multilanguage out of the box, and claims to have a content authoring platform geared towards publishing and managing content across multiple channels and in multiple languages.
It's user base is mainly in Europe, and primarily German speaking countries.
