Weaknesses

WPBakery is a page builder plugin for WordPress that was released under the name Visual Composer in 2011. In 2017, the developers created a website builder. This plugin is known as Visual Composer today, and the developers renamed the original page builder to WPBakery. This plugin is popular, with over 4.3 million users and an average rating of 4.64 out of 5 stars on CodeCanyon. WPBakery could be helpful to you if you are building a WordPress site for personal or business purposes. For instance, you don’t have to purchase a separate page builder if this plugin comes embedded in the ThemeForest theme you choose.

However, several WordPress web developers have expressed dissatisfaction with the plugin over the years. There is a learning curve, and some features aren’t as intuitive or efficient as those of other page builders. It’s also worth mentioning that, like some other page builders, if you decide to disable WPBakery after you’ve been using it for a while, it will leave behind shortcodes that are incompatible with other editors and themes.

What are the differences between WPBakery and the new Visual Composer? The primary distinction is that the former is a page builder, whereas the latter is a website builder.

WPBakery customizes the content section of your WordPress pages. On the other hand, Visual Composer allows you to design your entire website, including the headers, footers, and sidebars. It includes over 300 content elements, and new templates are added weekly.

However, all of these features are stored in the cloud instead of in separate add-ons. Therefore, you can customize your user experience without making additional purchases.

This website builder also includes several user-friendly features, such as keyboard shortcuts, copying/pasting options, and undo/redo revisions.

Beaver Builder is another page builder for WordPress. Unlike WPBakery, there is no back-end editor.

Beaver Builder features a drag-and-drop block editor with undo/redo revisions and is well-known for its intuitive and easy-to-learn interface. It offers fewer elements and templates than WPBakery — there are around 30 modules and 50+ layout templates.

It is a more expensive option and requires yearly payments. However, all the Beaver Builder pricing models let you use the plugin on an unlimited number of sites.

It is also one of the few that leaves clean code when disabled, it will still remove the previous styling, but you're pages won't be a mess of shortcodes that some of the other plugins leave.

Divi is an all-in-one theme, page builder, and theme builder.

Like WPBakery, Divi’s page builder features both front-end and back-end editing. However, its front-end drag-and-drop builder provides inline editing, real-time previews, and the ability to undo and redo changes.

The page builder also features 46 modules with a wide variety of customization options that give you complete control over their appearances. You can also split-test different aspects of your website using Divi Leads.

With over 1,600 page layouts and 222 layout packs to choose from, you will be able to find templates that fit your websites.

A yearly payment will give you access to an Elegant Themes membership that includes Divi and a number of other products, which you can use on unlimited sites.

      Features

WPBakery offers both a front-end and back-end editor, and you can use either one to build mobile-responsive pages for your website. It has over 50 elements to choose from when adding content to your pages and 85+ pre-made templates to help you get started. You can also create your own skins and apply them to your whole site.

This page builder also features a grid builder you can use to create a grid of photos, videos, or posts. You can choose from the following four designs:

      1. Media Masonry Grid

      2. Media Grid

      3. Post Masonry Grid

      4. Post Grid

As mentioned above, if you don’t have the features you need in the core plugin, there is a wide selection of add-ons that you can buy to expand its capabilities.

      Pricing

On the official WPBakery website, there are two pricing models:

      1. Regular — $45 for a single site license

      2. Extended — $245 for use in a single SaaS application

These packages include all the features this page builder offers, along with premium support and free updates.

WPBakery is also available on CodeCanyon, where it costs $64 for a Regular License due to additional fees. This plugin is included in many WordPress themes available on ThemeForest, as well. However, if you purchase a theme with the page builder embedded, you cannot access any plugin updates.

WPBakery Page Builder / Visual Composer Master Course

The WPBakery Page Builder Master Course weighs in at around 3.5 hours, and is the only dedicated WPBakery course on Udemy. While there are some other courses out there for WPBakery, none of them are particularly detailed, so while this course might be a little dated now, it's likely your only viable option at this time.
